Seo Firm – Tips To Build Links For Your Website

When it comes to increasing web traffic and optimizing your website for search engines, external links to your site are the key. In general, the more websites that link to your site the better. But first, it’s important to know the basics about links.

A link is simply a means of navigating from one webpage to another. An internal link takes you to another page within the same website, while an external link takes you to a completely new website. The term “back-link” refers to another website providing a link to yours. Back-linking is great for getting your website exposure.

Links can also take on different forms. Being able to recognize and identify the various types is important.
The 4 main types of links are:
• URL Link: A website’s URL listed out as a link.
• Text Link: (also known as Static Link). This is when a word or a phrase is clickable and takes you to another place.
• Image Links: When clicking on an image navigates you to another page.
• Dynamic Links: Inbound links from websites where the page is dynamically generated via a database query.
Besides allowing visitors to navigate around the web, links are also important to computer programs used by popular search engines called spiders. Spiders “crawl” around the internet gathering information about various sites and then index those sites. This is why the more links to your website that exist on the web, the higher your ranking will be on search engines like Google and Yahoo.

Different Links, Different Values

Not all links are created equally in the search engines’ eyes. One-way links—which occurs when another website links to you but you don’t link back to them—are more valuable to the search engines than reciprocal links. Search engines also assign value to links based on various factors, such as the link’s relevance to your site, the text around the link, and the authority the website that links to you has.

There are also links that mean nothing at all to search engines. Dynamic links and links that have “no follow” codes built into them are of no value to spider programs. However, that doesn’t mean they should not be used on your website. While a link that cannot be followed by a search engine spider may not be useful from a search engine optimization perspective, it can still provide increased traffic and visitors to your website.

Ideally, your website should contain links of all types, but should contain more high quality links than anything.

What are High Quality Links?

High quality links are those that produce Page Reputation and PageRank, both of which are ranking methods used by Google. Linking to target keywords is one way to get higher rankings for your website.

Anchor text are links that appear as words that can be clicked, and they are very valuable in the eyes of search engines. The clickable text should always include some of the primary and secondary keywords that you have identified in your keyword research. Because anchor text links are higher quality than URL links, remember when building one-way links to use them as much as possible.

Don’t let your focus on keywords and links compromise the quality of your site’s content. It’s important to make sure you have valuable, relevant content on your website for actual people, and not just filler pages loaded with your target keywords. Google’s spiders have figured out how to spot those who try to cheat the system that way with technology called Latent Semantic Indexing. Basically, this means that their programs are able to analyze all of the words on your page and how they relate to each other, easily spotting and disregarding nonsense pages loaded up with keywords.

Be Selective with Targeting your One-Way Links

When targeting your one-way links, be aware that Google also ranks your site based on the relationship between your site’s content and the content of the sites that link to you. One way links from sites with content similar to yours (i.e. yours is a pet related site and other pet related sites link to you) rank higher than one way links from sites with very different content.

One final word of advice: Think twice about paying another person to link to your site; if caught, your site can be banned from the ranking system all together. Instead, focus on building your links legitimately by taking advantage of as many social media networks you have time for, and also by blogging.

Website Development For SEO – FTP Set Up Guide

Designing websites with SEO in mind doesn’t have to be rocket science. Everything that you need to accomplish this can be learned online and with the assistance of a few books. I am going to write a series of articles showing you how to set up your WordPress blog site, and optimize it for SEO. This article is on FTP set-up, and installing an SEO optimized theme.

Assuming you already have your domain and hosting set up, we are going to jump straight into File Transfer Protocol. If you have not set up your hosting you will need to do that first and make sure that you get a web hosting company with Fantastico. It is a program offered with a select few web hosting companies that allows you to set up WordPress with just a few clicks.

Once you have WordPress set up you are going to need your FTP software. I use Filezilla, and it can be found with a quick search on Google. Just download it and go through the set-up steps as with any other program. Once installed, your initial set-up for transfers will be required. After the first time it will remember you passwords and you can connect to your website easily.

Go to your control panel in your web hosting account and look for create FTP account. If this is your first time doing this leave directory blank, and just put in your domain, user name and password. I set my quota to unlimited. Click enter and you have set up your FTP account. Once you click enter, it will give you the information you need to access your account. Copy and paste this into a document and save it on your desktop.

Open Filezilla, and on the top left, below File if you hove over the button it will say open site manager. Click on that. It will bring up the site manager window, with your options for setting up your new FTP account information. Open your document from earlier, and fill in the information.

Host is the FTP server. Set logon type to normal, and type in your user name and password. Name the account something that you can remember for your site. If my site was mysite.com I would name it mysite. Once you have filled in all the information with what you saved on your document, click connect.

Once you have clicked connect you will see four large quadrants on the interface. Computer Folders, computer files, server folders and server files. These are important because you can work everything from this location. You also have the option of drag and drop from your desktop.

The themes I recommend are listed with the resources on my website under free marketing training and website development for SEO.

To install your theme, refer to the large quadrant on the upper right called remote site. This is your server folders. Click to open the folder and then scroll down to public html. Click on WP content and then click on themes. The quadrant under the server folders is your server files. It will already have the default WordPress themes installed, classic and default. What you want to do is find your theme that you have downloaded through the process on the left, or open it on your desktop, and the drag and drop it into the server files quadrant. Once it is done setting up you are ready to go into WordPress and activate your theme.

This is your first step towards website development for SEO. You are now ready to customize your SEO options.

Your SEO Service, Ethical SEO, and Competitor Monitoring

When a company undertakes a search engine optimization program, whether it is performed in-house or outsourced to an SEO service, most of the attention (and rightly so) is focused on the company website. This is the one aspect where there is a feeling of control–once a website is released into the wild, the company will have to see how its site fares against all the other websites out there, whether the other sites are using ethical SEO tactics or not.

Apart from changes made to the company website, the assumption is often that the company and, if it is using one, its SEO service, has zero control over what appears in search engine results. However, this is not usually the case. Often, you or your SEO service can have a direct effect on search engine results by monitoring your competitors and reporting them to the major search engines when the SEO techniques used on their site fall outside what is popularly referred to as ethical SEO. (Please note that while I believe that the word “ethical” is tossed around too often, “ethical SEO” has become the standard phrase to describe white hat techniques, and so it is the phrase I use throughout the article.)

Primary Competitors

To start with, let’s define competitors. Almost every company has at least a handful of other companies that it considers to be primary competitors–the ones that sell the same products and services, that are of similar size, and so on. It is important that the SEO efforts (or lack thereof) of these competitors, whether they are using ethical SEO techniques or not, be monitored on a routine basis. If they have not hired an SEO service of their own, or if they have not started doing SEO in-house at all, you will have peace of mind knowing that the use of this channel, for the moment, is yours. If your competitors begin an SEO campaign, with or without an outside SEO service, you can learn much about their sales and marketing tactics by evaluating the keyphrases that they target. And you can also investigate whether they are using ethical SEO practices in their campaign.

Your Online Competitors

It’s important to keep in mind that it is unlikely that searchers are going to decide only between you and the primary competitors you have listed. They are going to consider any company that matches their particular needs and that shows up for their search term. This is why your criteria for a competitor online should broaden to encompass any company that offers products or services like yours that outranks you for any of your targeted keyphrases. If your in-house staff or your SEO service not only continually monitors your search engine positions but also analyzes the companies that appear above you in search results, you can often identify forward-looking competitors of which you were previously unaware–your primary competitors of tomorrow.

Violations

This brings us to the key issue of ethical SEO. Search engine optimization is still a very new concept to most companies. Even the most respected companies can make mistakes in this arena, either by choosing the wrong SEO service, or by trying to avoid hiring an SEO service altogether by bringing it in house with well-intentioned but unqualified people. For example, BMW’s German site was recently removed temporarily from the Google index for using doorway pages–something that is not considered an ethical SEO practice. It stands to reason that your competitors are also not immune to violations.

Bad Firms

There are very notable examples of otherwise smart and established companies hiring an SEO service that put them in a worse situation than before they pursued SEO–by getting their site removed from major search engines for violating the engine’s terms of service, for example. Not long ago, there was a well-publicized example where most of the clients of a Las Vegas SEO service were penalized. Almost all of the clients claimed that they were not informed that the firm was not practicing ethical SEO and that they were therefore at risk.

SEO firms are generally divided into two camps–those called “White Hats” (those that use ethical SEO practices and will never knowingly violate a search engine’s terms of service) and those called “Black Hats” (those that do not use ethical SEO practices and that will attempt to unravel the latest algorithms and exploit any loopholes to achieve rankings at any cost). Neither approach is invalid–it is not against the law to violate the terms of service of a search engine. Moreover, black hat techniques can be quite effective. However, the tactics are risky, and anyone hiring an SEO service that wears a black hat and does not use ethical SEO practices should definitely be apprised of this risk up front.

Internal Resources

Firms are often tempted to avoid hiring an SEO service by performing SEO in-house, and the project almost always falls onto an already overburdened IT department. The problem with approaching SEO from a strictly technical mindset is that the strategies employed, such as the keyphrases targeted, will not necessarily be in line with the goals of the marketing and sales departments. In addition, an IT resource will usually approach SEO from a purely technical standpoint, without being aware of ethical SEO practices, and this can lead to trouble. Penalization is a very real possibility, and it is hard to get back onto an index once your site has been removed.

Monitoring

A thorough SEO service will monitor not only the handful of competitors that you deem crucial but also the sites that appear higher than you for any of your chosen search phrases. This may be somewhat controversial, especially to any SEO service or webmaster that uses tactics forbidden by the search engines’ terms of service. However, many white hat SEO service firms consider it an obligation to their clients to routinely monitor the sites of any competitor found on the engines to be sure it is using ethical SEO techniques.

There is a reason that every major search engine has a form to report sites who do not use ethical SEO tactics and who violate the terms of service so that these sites can be subsequently penalized or removed. Spam filters cannot catch all violations without also removing a large number of good sites. Search engines rely on their users to help them to keep their indexes clean and free of sites not using ethical SEO tactics. There are many techniques to spam an engine–far too many to list. However, a good SEO service not only knows what all of these techniques are but knows how to identify them when it sees them so they can be reported to the engine accurately.

The End Result

Business is business, and your interests often run directly counter to that of your competitors. When you report a website that is not using ethical SEO, it is very likely that it will be removed. This means there is one less company that you need to worry about in the online arena, at least for the time being. If the site in question outranked yours, you also get the added benefit of seeing your rankings improve as the violating pages are removed–provided, of course, that you are using ethical SEO techniques and steering clear of violations yourself, or you may be reported by a competitor of yours or its SEO service!

The engine also benefits from users reporting violations. Engines do not like people trying to trick their indexes, since there might then be pages showing up for particular search terms that are not actually relevant to those terms. Clearly, search engines understand this benefit–if the engines thought they could weed out all the spam themselves, they would not provide a reporting system. Supporting such a system, after all, is not free. Real people employed by the engine have to visit the offending pages to confirm that they are not using ethical SEO tactics.

In the notable example cited earlier of the firm that got most of its clients penalized, the owner of the SEO service in question was quoted as saying, “Google can kiss my ass. This is the Wild Wild West.” He may be right–maybe it is the Wild Wild West. But there are a whole bunch of new sheriffs in town–and they are wearing white hats.

3 Main Reasons to Select Outsource SEO Services Rather Than Choosing In-House SEO

Search engine optimization is becoming very important for online business nowadays. It has gained so much importance that several IT firms are even providing their specialized services in this specific field. Now the million dollar question is whether you should hire someone outside of your firm for the optimization services to make the websites friendlier to the search engine or you should indulge your own firm for search engine optimization. Any SEO services provider firm can be hired for the optimization purposes of the websites. These firms often charge the clients certain bucks in order to share their expertise in the perspective field.

The in-house SEO is something that your own firm pursues. A group or flocks of people, who work together and share their knowledge to best, optimize the websites. But the team of search engine optimizers only works for the in-house projects and they do not accept any outside projects. The team is specifically designed so that it can meet the internal SEO needs and can sort out internally. The internal SEO team works dedicatedly behind the company’s projects and derive the solution as per needed.

What is Outsource SEO Services?

If you are not sure that your in-house SEO team can actually solve your search engine requirements and can give you the maximum benefits then you should outsource SEO projects rather than harming your business or depending on your in-house SEO team. There are firms that provide search engine optimization services in exchange of some monetary amount. Such firms are specialized in the perspective field and offer their services to the handle the outsourced SEO projects. Different SEO services provider firm offers services at different rates depending on the services and the manual effort.

Why to go for Outsource SEO Services rather than In-house SEO?

Now here comes the main question that will clear the major difference between the outsource SEO and the in-house SEO services. It will also help you to decide whether you should opt for in-house SEO or you should better outsource the SEO projects. There are few reasons, which will definitely help you to take the decision like:

• Firm Deadline:

Well, if you are involving in-house SEO and you are setting a predetermined deadline then, also it might fluctuate because it is your in-house project therefore your needs might change continuously and you will definitely not compromise on it. Thereby you will delay the project and it will not meet the deadline. But while you outsource SEO projects to other firms they will start as per your initial requirements and if in case your requirements are changing and it is possible to reflect the changes into the websites then only they will change or else they will not. Thus, they will definitely meet the deadline and will deliver the projects on time.

• Implementation of Variety of Resources & Ideas:

While you are involving your in-house SEO the ideas that they will share will be limited. Whereas if you hire an outsource SEO services provider firm, it will merge different ideas and thoughts before implementing finally to optimize the websites. It would be again an additional advantage for you to direct the projects to the outsource SEO services provider firm.

• Reduction in Cost Factor:

The most common thinking is if you direct your projects outside rather than depending on the in-house SEO then, it would be more costly. But in reality it never happens while you depend on companies that manages outsource SEO services, they charge you for one time and will do the optimization along with the maintenance. You will get the services with variable resources and ideas, which will help in better optimizing the websites. While with your in-house SEO all time maintenance cost would be there and unnecessarily usage of resources would be there with lacking quality.

These are the three main benefits which you can definitely receive through outsource SEO services and can improve the ranking of the websites in the search engine result page. SEO services provider firms are the biggest option for the one who wants to excel in online business with quality services. So, what are you waiting for?
